Searching and Selecting Collection Sites
After choosing the test type (regulated/non-regulated and urine/oral fluid), the next step in the Lab Orders process is to find and select a convenient collection site from the integrated laboratory network. Veriport makes this easy by providing a powerful search tool connected to thousands of collection locations across the United States. This article explains how to search for sites, filter results, and select the best one for your donor.
Why Collection Site Selection Matters
Choosing the right site ensures:
- The donor can easily access a nearby location with minimal travel
- Reduced no-shows and delays in the testing process
- Proper support for the selected specimen type (urine or oral fluid) and test requirements
- Accurate transmission of the electronic order to the site for smooth collection
Step-by-Step: Searching and Selecting a Collection Site
- Reach the Collection Site Search Screen
After confirming the test type and panel, click Continue or Next to arrive at the "Select Collection Site" popup Enter the Donor’s Location
Veriport will attempt to pre-fill the donor's address or city from their record (if available). If not:
- Enter the donor's ZIP code (recommended for best accuracy)
- Or enter city and state (e.g., "Cape Coral, FL")
- Optionally, include a full street address for more precise results
Hit Search to load nearby sites.
Review Search Results
Results display in a list or map view (toggle between them if available):
- Site name and address
- Distance from the entered location (in miles)
- Hours of operation
- Phone number (for donor to schedule if needed)
- Indicators for appointment availability, walk-in support, or special notes (e.g., "Oral Fluid Supported")
Sites are sorted by proximity by default. All listed sites are part of the integrated network and can handle your selected test type.
Filter and Refine Results (Optional)
Use available filters to narrow options:
- Maximum distance (e.g., within x miles)
- Appointment required vs. walk-in
- Sites with extended hours or weekend availability
- Preferred site types (e.g., Patient Service Centers vs. partner locations)
Re-search or apply filters as needed to find the ideal site.
Select the Site
Click or tap the desired collection site. A confirmation popup or details pane may appear showing:
- Full address and directions link
- Estimated distance from search criteria (if address provided)
- Any test instructions or requirements specific to the site
Confirm the selection by clickingSelect Site or Choose This Location.
- Proceed to Pricing and Payment
Once selected, click Continue to move to the pricing review, payment step, and order finalization.
Tips for Best Results
- Use ZIP code for the most accurate distance calculations—especially for rural or suburban donors.
- Encourage donors to call ahead for appointments if the site requires them (noted in results).
- For regulated tests, ensure the site supports certified collectors and chain-of-custody (most network sites do, but verify if shown).
- If no suitable sites appear, expand the search radius or try a nearby city—network coverage is extensive but varies by area.
Common Issues and Fixes
- No sites found: Check ZIP code accuracy, expand radius, or confirm the test type/specimen is supported in that area. Contact support for assistance.
- Site doesn't support selected specimen: Rare, but possible—choose a different site or verify with support that oral fluid/regulated options are available locally.
- Incorrect distance shown: Provide a more precise address or use the donor's work/home ZIP as appropriate.
Next Steps
With the collection site selected, you're almost done! Next, you'll:
- Review the competitive lab fee and collection fee for the order
- Complete payment using your saved credit card
- Place the order and receive automatic invoicing
